On the footsteps of our illustrious artists

Etretat has inspired many artists. I mentioned some of them in the introduction (Monet, Maupassant, Matisse, Delacroix) but there are many others: Eugène Le Poittevin, Gustave Courbet, Barthold Jongkind, Camille Corot, Eugène Isabey, Eugène Boudin… There is also a multitude of postcards testifying to the past and the evolution of this famous seaside resort.

I suggest that, either from my own archives, or from a painting, an illustration, a postcard… of your choice, we try to find the place, the conditions in which they were made and to recreate the same picture today.

There is thus initially a work of research then, if it is possible because certain places are not always accessible, the taking of the photograph.
